DJ Enferno, the mastermind turntablist with a vision, has made the cover of DJ Times Magazine! He has been in the game of music since early 90's and has not stopped moving. He has played DC venues from 1223, Ultra Bar and the former Play Lounge to Fly Lounge and Lima. His most recent rock the house project is touring with Madonna!

The nMix by DJ Nakeva - DanceTrance 8/10/08

I created a new playlist to share new songs I have come across or old tracks I want to use for expression. I have been evaluating new trance tracks as well as working on my own tracks for my next EP. Its amazing the amount of music out there that reaches me on every level and yet I have not heard it all! I love that about music, just dig it.

The opening track here is one of my favorites from the WE8 (http://www.coca-cola.com/we8) Coco-Cola mix of music artists and graphic artists. Its a great song to start the day! So sit back relax and enjoy the first half of the playlist, then listen as it starts to pump up a notch or two and get you hyped to dance or finish that work task you've let dangle a little too long. Keep the Olympic Team in mind...we can all do anything and have anything we want in this lifeif we just ask and reach for it ;)

What can you say? With the rise of social media marketing rising what is a successful music artist to do these days? T-pain tops the edge in becoming the next P.Diddy in his own style! He already has a few artists on the label to push it forward and even has the songs out on iTunes! His comment about reaching users where they are at, "online" is an indicator that he is willing to traverse the world of the digital and music matrix. Go T-Pain!

The genre of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) has become so large that there are several sub-genres to categorize the slightest change in beat, tempo, rhythm, vocals, etc. Any song can be transformed from its original composition into an unforgettable beat that makes you dance and drop to the floor or spin it in a different direction and totally change the song into a piece to calm the mood. This word of digital and Electronica together is a beautiful marriage of style and expression.

I will be reviewing several of these sub-genres in Electronica starting with my favorite, Trance! ideas in mind as I acclimate to this world of blogging, so stay tuned...

So You Wanna Be A DJ?

"So you wanna be a DJ?" they say.

"You can spin music? Do you have turntables?" they say.

"What? You're not a real DJ if you don't use vinyl!" they say.

I say I'm a DJ and I use whatever I have at my disposal to get the music out there! We are in a digital age and even the greatest of DJ's/Producers are moving to MP3, CD, external hardrives, video or laptops. One thing is clear: No matter what the medium or the gear, creativity and talent with music has a plethora of viable outlets to express the art of music! Rather than pack around a galore of vinyl in crates, I pack my laptop with MP3s and CDs! My friends want to know what's hot or what's been on my mind I mix up and tweak a few songs and thrown 'em on a CD and give them a copy! If I had vinyl I would use the tools to copy to MP3 format and burn to disk! Vinyl is awesome and will be around forever! The digital format is my medium and I am relentless in getting as much of it as I can and taking themusic out of my head and sharing with the masses.
